Fact-checking

Post-truth was the Oxford English Dictionary’s Word of the Year in 2016. A year later, fake news was the Collins Word of the Year.

With so much fake news going around, it is vital for serious media outlets to stand out from the crowd and ensure that everything they publish or broadcast is factually accurate.

Why entrust a professional translator with this job? Because I’ve been doing fact-checking for over a decade while translating documents for my clients. On countless occasions I’ve saved my clients’ skin by spotting a factual error in their document and informing them, and my clients appreciate it, as you can see from the feedback at the bottom of this page.

If you need a fact-checker for your news story or for any other publication, contact me for more information or a free, no-obligation quote.

Question verification

As mentioned above, checking information has been part and parcel of my work for over a decade. As an avid quiz-show fan, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard ambiguous questions, often with more than one possible answer. This is particularly true with questions about foreign languages.

I provide question verification services for the following subjects:

  • Romance languages (especially French, Spanish and Catalan)
  • The English language
  • Linguistics, spelling and grammar
  • French and Spanish culture
  • Sport
  • Geography
